Make sure you have routing enabled on the OpenVPN server:

# cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
1

Also, your LAN hosts need to know the route back to the VPN client, e.g.
# route add -net 10.0.0.0/8 gw vpnserver

or you need to setup masquerading / NAT between the VPN network and the LAN:
# iptables -t nat -A -s 10.0.0.0/8 -d 192.168.1.0/24 -j MASQUERADE
# iptables -t nat -A -s 10.0.0.0/8 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE

I've got an .Xmodmap file leftover from getting multimedia keys working
at one time. "volume hotkeys" is not a term I am familiar with.

~$ cat .Xmodmap
keycode 174 = XF86AudioLowerVolume
keycode 176 = XF86AudioRaiseVolume
keycode 223 = XF86AudioMute

The keycodes came from one of those scancode capture utilities.
Those XF86... keywords came from some Xorg document or other.

These, I don't think, have anything to do with a taskbar volume applet.

It might help if you explained what LXDE was (I'd never heard of it.
Oh, it's YAFLD (yet ANOTHER fast light desktop), <sigh>, or whether
your problem is related to:
- recognizing your volume hotkeys
- locating an appropriate volume control applet
- getting the applet into the task bar
- ???

I will assume your problem is the first one, and suggest xbindkeys
(google it) as an excellent special keyboard keys grabbing ->
arbitrary program executing background daemon.

Since I don't have a taskbar I can't help with any of the rest, but I
might suggest an alternative: xosd (google it) provides fun arbitrary
"on-screen" information, like a heads up display, which can be used to
represent volume. Together with the xosd xmms plugin which shows song
titles it could be quite neat for a media box. Disclaimer: I stopped
using it a while back, and it seems not to have been updated in a
while. YMMV.

I will reply to your mail with confirmation upon submitting the nomination.

I will respond to the mailing list once all of the nominations have been dispensed.

 First In, First Out.

 # FAQ

 # What is Google Wave?

This is best explained by the Google dev team (http://wave.google.com/help/wave/about.html).

 # What is a "nomination"?

Google allows Wave users the ability to nominate others for a Wave account.

It is up to Google to grant / reject nominees (based on whatever criteria they use).

 # I did not get a confirmation mail from Google about my nomination, WTF?!

Google will not send you anything unless they grant you an invite.

I know some people who had a wait time of 2 weeks for this.

Do not send me follow up mail on this point.

-Rowan

rowan DOT townshend AT gmail DOT com
