need assistance with aqBanking setupI don't even know enough here to know what to ask.
I used to use MS Money. It set up online banking automatically pretty much. I've been importing QFX files ok, but my new bank (Charles Schwab) doesn't appear to give that option. Besides, the online is easier & probably more secure (?). Using KMyMoney 0.9.3-CVS (Using KDE 3.5.10) I have "Online Banking / Configure aqBanking & aqBanking Importer" and "Settings / Configure aqBanking" so I have the plugin. I just don't even know what the information it is asking for is. I assume that I should use "aqofxconnect - OFX-DirectConnect backend". Once I select that, I do not know what any of the information asked for is. Is this information easy to get? I looked for help online but I don't read German ;> Thank you. Re: need assistance with aqBanking setupI had the same problem with Schwab and eventually found the correct
settings to enter manually. I will send you the details tonight (I'm in California so my day just started). Be very careful if you find help for this online. The first help I found had a minor change in the URL which sent you to a phishing site where you could easily give away your account info. Unfortunately there are some problems with the OFX file that Schwab provides. When trading CDs the transactions are not imported correctly. I think it only affects the selling side. I'm working with one of the developers to help him find a way to make this work. Your experience with Schwab downloads may help fix the problem. -- Brendan On Tue, Jun 23, 2009 at 8:25 AM, Debbi Thomas<InComing@...> wrote: > I don't even know enough here to know what to ask. > > I used to use MS Money. Thanks much, I am also in CA, but my day started a while ago ;> I'm doing my checking account with Charles Schwab as Chase brought in out of state contractors to remodel WaMu to Chase & I'm a commercial union carpenter. Re: need assistance with aqBanking setupDebbi,
Thomas is the developer that mentioned that I'm working with to fix some of my Schwab OFX import problems. My problems probably won't affect your bank account with them. I'm not sure what the difference is between the plugins but I'm pretty sure I'm using the KMM OFX plugin that he asked you to verify is loaded and enabled. It is for me. I do not have the KBanking plugin available. Assuming you have the plugin enabled I'll walk you through the steps I took to get my Schwab account to work: >From the menu, Account, Map to online account. Hopefully you will see two tabs, Automatic and Manual. You can try the Automatic. I get 3 options when I type in Schwab for the search and none of them work for my brokerage account. Since you have a bank account it may be different for you. If none of them work you can try the manual tab. The settings that work for me are: Org: ISC Fid: 101 URL: https://ofx.schwab.com/cgi_dev/ofx_server I hope this helps. Like I said earlier, there is a phishing site out there trying to get you info. The URL has a slightly different name so be careful if you find any help and type the Schwab part of the URL instead of cutting and pasting it. -- Brendan On Tue, Jun 23, 2009 at 11:44 AM, Thomas Baumgart<thb@...> wrote: > On Tuesday 23 June 2009 18:46:21 Debbi Thomas wrote: > >> Brendan - >> >> Thanks much, I am also in CA, but my day started a while ago ;> >> >> I'm doing my checking account with Charles Schwab as Chase brought in >> out of state contractors to remodel WaMu to Chase & I'm a commercial >> union carpenter. Might be good to leave a comment on the blog. The difference I mentioned was in the domain name. Schwab was spelled wrong sending you to a phishing server. The slight difference here is after the domain name so I think both are safe. I suspect the wordpress URL is for the bank and the one I sent is for brokerage accounts. I'll look into it later and submit my comments there if they are appropriate. Debbi, please let me know which URL works for you with your Schwab bank account. > >> I hope this helps. Re: need assistance with aqBanking setup - done!I'm obviously not having a great day.
I've been replying to messages in this thread which means my messages are going to the senders instead of to the list. Sorry Thomas, Brendan, and any others. It's not the worst thing I have messed up sending email. I got everything working with online banking downloading my transactions / accounts from Charles Schwab. I discovered that if I have an account open, go to Account, there is an option to "map account to online account". I hadn't seen that before. This method is pretty much the same as in the Windows financial applications. Wouldn't have discovered it, but I did it all in a much longer process, than started to set it up on one of my other computers. It is all really easy. Don't think any of the external information is needed, but I found it all at: http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/OFX_Direct_Connect_Bank_Settings & http://ofxblog.wordpress.com/?s=schwab Glad I ghosted before I started this am. Now I can get rid of all the stuff I installed ;> - Debbi ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ KMyMoney2-user mailing list KMyMoney2-user@... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/kmymoney2-user |

Thanks Thomas. I don't have the devel packages installed. Will re-build when the next release comes along. KMyMoney2 is a very polished application. It works just fine and I have no niggles at all. Much better than Quicken Personal Plus 2009 on Vista or XP. No bringing the system down and just as many features that I use. Thanks to yourself and all the developers. It needs the libical development package installed to build. It will build without it but one doesn't get the calendar function only the cheque printing and reconciliation report. I can only find libical-0.43. No devel tarball. Do you know if libical-0.43 is all that is needed or do I really need the devel tarball as well? If so, do you have any idea where to get it. There are no libical rpm packages >=0.33 for Fedora 8 unfortunately. Thanks. -- Kind regards, Graeme Nichols. ... Hello Graeme, you need the development packages to compile the calendar plugin, it isn't enough with the regular package, because the compilation requires the library headers. Thanks Alvaro. Only one problem, I cannot find a devel tarball for libical-0.43, or any other version either, anywhere, by Googling. I'll have to see what else I can do. -- Kind regards, Graeme Nichols. ...
