Hi all,

When i play a highres video through the oFlaDemo application i get a
buffer.empty status and it stops playing. I'v tryed it with a lot

problem. Version of red5 0.7 and 0.8.

Has anyone a suggestion?

Thanks,
Wouter Baan

Hi Wouter,

I take it your using the oflaDemo swf file right?

So when you are trying to play this do you just keep seing NetStream.Buffer.Full then NetStream.Buffer.Empty all the time and it just keeps going and going in a loop?

If the above scenario is the case, then maybe your video is so large that it fills the buffer before it even progresses much.  Are you doing this testing locally?  How big are your files?

Sorry to clarify a little, the buffer fills up and empties before you see any noticable progress is what I meant.

The file i'm trying to play is around 8Mb for a 45 seconds video.
It plays the first 8-9 seconds good but after that the buffer runs empty and don't get filled again.

I think i've found the same bug discribed here:
So i'm gonna try it with the 0.8RC2 now.

With that size file, I don't think the scenario I mentioned would happen.  I'm glad it sounds like you found a good lead.

Well, i've done some testing with v0.8RC2 now but it doesn't work either.
I just figured out that the server thinks the que is empty while the movie isn't at its end.

I just wanted to follow up on this old post, because I have the same
issue as described in this blog post, using red5 0.7 and the JW FLV
player.

http://thedesignspace.net/MT2archives/000700.html

For that project, I solved the issue by using a javascript playlist. I
don't know why that worked -presumably it uses the same calls to the
player as the built-in playlist does.

Any insight into the buffer.empty issue is welcome.
