new feature implementation

Hi all,
        I am new to the evolution team and I am sure that everyone here
has seen the lightning add-on and the Today pane that it shows on the
side of Thunderbird. I would like to develop that add-on for evolution
as well, can anyone help me out on how to get started (basically the API
and other features).
