oorexx -- Unable to load library: librexxutil.so [SOLUTION]

Posting for posterity.  :-)

After installing oorexx on Mdv 2009.1, I was being burned with:
 Unable to load library: librexxutil.so

Googling eventually brought me here:
 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=448018

    ... and the "Work Around"(s) mentioned there solved the problem.
