packaging of phusion passenger?

Has anybody put any effort into packaging phusion passenger yet?  It's
got some rake rules to generate a .deb file from upstream source, but
the result isn't something I'd consider distributing.  I'm working on
improving the packaging of passenger for work, and was wondering if it's
worth filing an ITP.

there's already an ITP, and people have already uploaded it during
debconf. it's being maintained inside of DRE.
