Which graphics backend did you choose at installation? Do you have Java installed? Which version? If you selected JHandles as default backend, could you re-install and select Gnuplot instead? Can you figure something out of that? I never tried JHandles with Java 1.4.2. You should at least use Java >= 1.5 (normally, this should have been detected at installation time).
