One of Stephen's best (in my opinion) criticisms of my "pre-purchase"
business model is that  it relied to much on a "trust me" proposition:
"trust me, you'll be glad you paid for the work i'll next do".

Well, I've changed that landscape in two ways.

First, I've written up a very detailed description of many of
my innovations, complete with elaborate drawings to illustrate
many key components.   So, I've done a better job of laying
out the "big picture" of the technology I've developed and am
working on.

Second, I've submitted that document to the US Patent and Trademark
Office as a provisional patent application.   There are many kinds
of software innovation that I don't think reasonably merit patent
protection -- but some of my innovations are of the sort that I think
does merit patent protection.

An interesting note from along the way:   The PTO fee structure
favors "small entities" and gives them 50% off of some filing fees.
Free software folks should be very careful when taking advantage of
that offer though.   Read the legislation carefully.  If you have
distributed
code under GPL (at least or especially v3) *you may no longer qualify
as a small entity* and should pay the full fee if you do not qualify.
