I am trying to run PHPMyAdmin on top of Windows 2008
R2/IIS7.5 running PHP 5.3.1 and MySQL 5.0.88. When I try to login to phpmyadmin
it takes about 60 seconds and then returns a 500 error. I do not know enough
about FastCGI to troubleshoot this.

>> Defines whether to display detailed server information on main
>> page. (...)
>>
>> Currently, this parameter, when false, only hides the protocol version,
>> the logged-in user and the server's full name (next to the verbose name).
>>
>> It's true that this parameter is poorly named (it should have been
>> ShowDetailedMySQLInfo). We got a request to remove all web server info
>> and MySQL server info from the main page when this parameter is set to
>> false. I think this would be appropriate.
> I can imagine that some people would rather obscure these facts from view.
> So yes, lets make ShowServerInfo realy mean all that server info.

I'm working on it.
>
> In that same reasoning maybe we should also offer an option to not
> display the phpMyAdmin version.
>
I would wait about this one.

> One tricky sidenote: The export function also output's version
> information...
>
Since there are many ways to get MySQL server information, I think the
goal here is just to "fix" the ShowServerInfo parameter.

The current phpMyAdmin has no mechanism to help you do that. I could
export tables from both servers in distinct files and proceed these
files with a file comparison utility.
?>

This worked just fine in Freebsd release 7.2,
Now when i start phpmyadmin i get error from phpmyadmin saying mysql
"can not connect-invalid setting error".
Looks like auto login to phpmyadmin is working
When i run my http/php5/mysql application I can add and update my mysql
db just fine using the connect statement having only root and no
password. mysql_pconnect("localhost","root") or die("Unable to connect
So there is nothing wrong with the mysql settings.

What default is phpmyadmin passing to mysql that mysql is complaining about?

Since you are using SMALLDATETIME, I am going to presume you are wanting it for MS SQL Server. In the future, it would be nice if you told us this.

The problem presented here is the SMALLDATETIME. This type has no seconds. Just hours and minutes. However, nearly all of SQL Server's date functions use DATETIME which is to the millisecond. Therefore you need to CAST() it down. By default, the SMALLDATETIME would be cast up to DATETIME, which might yield bad results since the inputted data would always be 00 seconds and 000 milliseconds meaning that "now" might be up to 59 seconds 999 milliseconds in the past.
>> sorry for the mess. I hope everything is back in order now.
>>
>
> You also changed a lot of lang files.
> Although I see Marc has beaten me to it in rev 13134, a way to fix this
> completely is described in
> http://svnbook.red-bean.com/nightly/en/svn.branchmerge.basicmerging.html#svn.branchmerge.basicmerging.undo
>
> It also really helps to force yourself to always run a "svn diff
> [optional file-names] | vim -" just before committing. It lets you
> review the changes in a vim buffer.
> This habit has saved me a number of times already,
> This is probably a dumb question; however, is there any configuration
> rather than a semi-colon ";" by default for importing/exporting CSV
> the import fails. I realize that a semi-colon is the norm in European
> that I use to create CSV files use a comma "," by default. Most do not
