Hi all!

I have a USB/RS232 cable based on a pl2303 device, I also have a IR Blaster (RS232/IR Emitter) Is there any way I can send IR signals to my tv throught both cables?

When I use the ir blaster on my desktop everything works just fine, the problem is that my STB does not have a serial interface so what I am trying is to do is use the ttyUSB0(based on the pl2303) as the lirc interface with the lirc_serial module which I don't know if it is even posible. I have compliled the lirc with the --with-ttyfile option pointing to the ttyUSB device but It didn't work. Does anyone knows a solution for this??

For better understanding this is what I am trying to do:

STB: USB---RS232 <----- /dev/ttyUSB0 ----> RS232---IR  )))      TV
        pl2303 device                   |                  ir blaster device
                                               |
                                               |
                                        I belive here is there
                                        the problem is because
                                        this is some kind of
                                        virtual interface instead
                                        of a real serial adapter.

Many thanks!

It isn't. Use a USB IR transmitter instead, like the cheap Windows MCE
ones.
