I use pptpd server for incoming vpn connections. Sometimes I see
pptpctrl processes with very high processor load (50-80%). And there are these
strange entries in /var/log/messages before the problem comes:
Apr 19 21:23:38 tomgate pppd[22847]: No response to 3 echo-requests
Apr 19 21:23:38 tomgate pppd[22847]: Serial link appears to be disconnected.
Apr 19 21:23:38 tomgate pppd[22847]: Connect time 3.2 minutes.
Apr 19 21:23:38 tomgate pppd[22847]: Sent 607094 bytes, received 523881 bytes.
Apr 19 21:23:38 tomgate pppd[22847]: MPPE disabled
Apr 19 21:23:38 tomgate pppd[22847]: Connection terminated.
Apr 19 21:23:38 tomgate pppd[22847]: ioctl(TIOCSETD, N_TTY): Interrupted system call (line 562)
Apr 19 21:23:38 tomgate pppd[22847]: Exit.
After that I have no running pppd processes (for this connection) but i do have
pptpctrl one (that 'eats' processor time).
Where is the problem - in pppd or in pptpd, and how can I fix it?
