pwgl-users: new to PWGL, need some guidance...Hey you guys,
I am new to PWGL, I have to say I was blown away by the interface. I was using common music, but it only has a text interface. The graphical programming aspect of PWGL is something I really enjoy. I do have a few questions I was hoping someone could give me feedback on. One thing I did like about common music was the support it had for transforming and mapping data. http://commonmusic.sourceforge.net/cm/res/doc/cm.html#mapping Does PWGL have support for anything like that? I was also wondering does PWGL support OSC? I would be curious to know how you guys integrate PWGL into your composition work flow. Thanks, Anthony |

Re: pwgl-users: new to PWGL, need some guidance...Hello Anthony,
I am new to PWGL myself, however, as with other programs like Max, and PD~, PWGL can be extended with Lisp. There are a number of extensions available already for PWGL but as of yet the only thing I can find to control external equipment is Midi. -Brian you might find this useful: http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=2&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mitpressjournals.org%2Fdoi%2Fpdf%2F10.1162%2Fcomj.2009.33.1.19&ei=LPYRSqqsNZHSMNHUif0M&usg=AFQjCNFWzMg1q3RPNYnq3UYlLCUNF4vWzw&sig2=qe1_i5D6VABEstU4dmayQw

Re: pwgl-users: new to PWGL, need some guidance...Hey Brian,
Thanks for the article. I was actually reading it last week in this months CMJ. Which is what started this whole thing. It is good to have a pdf version of it. Since we are all getting started on this stuff I was thinking it would be interesting to share ideas and patches. One of the main reasons I got in to trying to integrate a LISP tools into my composition environment, was to explore mapping computational processes onto musical parameters. To have finer control of designing gestures and form. I also want something that allows me to stay in the realm of imagination, where I can easily spatialize forms and envision relationships. PWGL seems like it would be a good platform for this. I would be curious to know what you guys are interested in getting out of PWGL. Maybe we can combine our forces and learn faster.
