Hi Fabio,

Sorry, basic information I missed there :$

GTK 2.18.3, python 2.6.4 and pydev 1.5.1 & 1.5.3 (updated this morning
and tried it again). If I run it outside of eclipse, and put a
pdb.set_trace() at the same point, I get a pdb prompt, but I cant type
anything into it :/

I _can_ debug parts of the application though (I guess on the main thread).

Hi all,

Apologies if I'm missing something obvious, I cannot debug while a GTK
app is in it's main() loop, or rather, execution does not stop at my
chosen breakpoints. I normally work with Qt apps so am a little
unfamiliar with GTK, but is something to do with the app's threading?
I have used the debugger with much simpler GTK apps ok.

No, it should be working... provided your files are properly in your
source folders ( http://pydev.org/manual_101_project_conf.html ) and
you have the builders enabled.

normally i could write a todo tag ( # TODO: xyz) inside the code and
after saving, the pydev builder was parsing the code and found this
string (got a icon left from the line number).
This doesn't work now. I can now only add a todo tag by using [EDIT]
+ [Add Task ...].
I checked my preferences and the builders (use builders?) are on ...
is this feature broken?

Hi,

you are right ...
In fact, i use ubuntu and have python 2.5 & 2.6 running and want to
use 2.5. But if i start the debugging the 2.6 libs are used. I
switched now to 2.6 end everything works.

getting files to show in a project without a "src" directory

Does anybody have advice on getting the package explorer to show files in a project that does not include an "src" directory? I am at version 1.4.4.2636. When I create the project I uncheck "Create default 'src' folder..." but the package explorer still tries to show a "src" directory. Then I go to Project Properties and verify that my root directory is a source directory, yet no source is shown when I expand the directory. Is there anything else that I should be doing to allow PyDev to help me explore source within my directories?

can't find remote debugging

Hi,

today I wanted to start using the remote debugger feature in pydev 1.5.0
but somehow I can't find it... I'm using Aptana Studio (+ pydev 1.5
installed separately) on Fedora Linux with OpenJDK.

Somehow I don't find the mentioned button [1] to start the remote
debugging. Is there a menu command where I can check if this feature is
available for me? (I reset my customized perspective already but you
never know...)

Does remote debugging depend on some sun-specific features as some parts
of the former pydev extensions do?

Sorry if this is obvious but I was unable to find it :-(

This brings up the context menu for me with enable breakpoint at the
top...is this what you meant? I am talking about the direct "Toggle
Breakpoint" command on the line at the cursor. I have this mapped to
Ctrl-Shift-B (In Windows) in Galileo and it works as expected in java
but not in pydev.

Wow, thanks for that! I don't know how I missed the manual, or the
debug settings in eclipse, but changing eclipse to run last launched
is a huge time saver. Thanks so much.

Using Ctrl+F10 here works for me (which shortcut is not available)?

Hi Fabio,

I have two little keyboard problems that I would love to resolve if possible.

The first is I can't seem to get the "toggle breakpoint" keyboard shortcut to work in the pydev editors. It works fine in java, but not in python.

The second issue, and more important for me, is that it would be really good to be able to "run/debug/relaunch last launch configuration" by keyboard shortcut. The use case is I'm running:

"python manage.py test module"

to test some django code. I'm trying to code and test, code and test, but at the moment I need to go up with the mouse to relaunch every time which is a little slow.

editing in one place, testing and another

This is probably something in the manual I haven't read yet so, feel free to say
so and I'll go look. I'm disabled, I use speech recognition, I'm trying to make
eclipse a more palatable editing environment for speech recognition users. I'll
be asking lots of questions in this domain over the next few months so, consider
this fair warning. :-)

Right now, what I need to solve it is how to export my code from the eclipse
environment to my working environment. Bonus points for doing so without
needing a mouse or keyboard. The immediate need is to copy program files from
my speech recognition extension project into the working directory for natlink.
this should be a simple Windows copy but I'm not sure how to invoke it or
even set it up. The longer term need is to copy files from a project to a
remote machine. Being disabled and using speech recognition, this means my user
interface, project files, and revision control is on Windows but most of my
target work is on Linux. One possible technique would be to use unison to copy
changes in both directions since I tend to make minor changes on the debugging
machine.

triggers for copying should be one of two methods. On-demand or automatically.
On-demand is like explicitly saving a file except, in this case you're saving
it somewhere else. Automatically means the saving in the remote place happens
at the same time as saving the file in the project. I'm aware that local save
will be faster than a remote save but I'm willing to pay that price or use a
network filesystem.

Triggering should be by speech recognition. Ideally, some form of API for
accessing commands would be wonderful but as a last resort, a really ugly key
sequence that is unlikely to be typed by any normal human being is acceptable.

It's not really a link, just the information to the current
interpreter you're using. You can filter it in the pydev package
explorer in the menu (ctrl+F10 > customize view > interpreter info).

I have also experienced the same thing that Nicola did. PyQt4 code completion
worked fine in pydev 1.4.8. After updating to 1.5.0 it stopped working. Disabling
the code analysis option brought code completion back.

ok! i reread the manual and i added the sources to a sources dir. Then the whole
thing worked! :)

Now i wonder if its any way to automaticly deploy my project to be portable
(copy the libraries in a /lib folder or something)...

Hello,

It looks like this bug was closed, but no resolution was mentioned.

I see that if I have a folder with egg in the name, that causes a unresolved
import. By removing the egg, my issues go way.

Pydev 1.5.0.1251989166 and Eclipse 3.4.2

Is my previous question making sense? I got no replies, so just wondering...

The problem I have is that code completion works fine on attributes that are
instances of classes, as long as you are not inside a function. When inside
a function, it stops working. Is this normal?

I just took py.test for a spin, outside of pydev. Since it is a later version
or derivative of Nose, it appears to have the same problem as Nose.
Regardless, I was impressed and love to see support for either py.test or Nose
or if indeed they are the same. whichever is anticipated to survive.

code completion works fine so pythonpath seems ok. I'm using eclipse galileo
on linux x86_64 with jdk 6u16. What environment configuration can be wrong?
How can I send additional info?
