Dear all,
iam a structural engineer from karlsruhe university ,germany .am trying to model rc beam using abaqus.i have introduced longitudinal reinforcement using embedded element technique.i would like to know whether or not it is correct, and how do i see the variation of force in the steel.and whether it is required to specify any interaction between the steel and the concrete.

hope you will clarify my doubts.

Hi there!
I'm a postgraduate student in structural engineering too!
is it possible to have the file of your modeling in abaqus? because i wanna model the concrete in plasticity but dont know how?

It's all right. but in this manner you can't define any interaction but
totally coupled between the steel and the concrete.

hi i am a structural engineering student from anna university,India. i am also trying model rc beam column joints using ABAQUS. i introduced lonitudinal reinforcement by using truss element and embedded that in concrete.i given interaction by choosing CONSTRAIN option. to see the variational force you should initally create some element set in rebars.

hope i have done some to you

HI,

I am also working on modeling of RC beam.I got stuck up in embedding steel in concrete. After running it, am getting the same error dis[laying "Some elements are missing property". But, elements have been assigned the properties for  sure.
Can you please let me know the procedure stepwise in a simple way?
