Hi,

I am trying to summarize the main steps necessary to use the Ontology Bean Generator together with protégé 3.3.1. Please let me know if the following explanation is not enough or if you still have any problems.

1) Download the Ontology Bean Generator from the url http://protege.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?OntologyBeanGenerator and unzip the file under the Protégé plugins directory

2) Open a new or an exiting project in Protégé

3) Import the OWLSimpleJADEAbstractOntology.owl in your project:

  • Go to OWLMetadata tab (if this tab doesn’t appears, go under Projects -> Configure…->Tab Widgets and select it)
  • In the Ontology Browser, select the icon “Import Ontology”  and then “import an ontology contained I a specific local file”: you will find the OWLSimpleJADEAbstractOntology under the directory Protege_install_dir/plugins/nl.uva.psy.swi.beangenerator/projects)

4) Create your own onotology

5) Go again under Projects -> Configure…->Tab Widgets and select the OnotologyBeanGenerator Tab

6) Export the ontology:

  • Select the OntologyBeanGenerator tab
  • Specify a package name, e.g. mypackage.onto
  • Specify a location where the java files are to be created (make sure the directory exists) e.g. .../projects/mypackage/src/mypackage/onto
  • Specify (or select from the combobox) a ontology name: e.g. MyOntology
  • Press the generate button

7) Use the generated Java files:

  • Import the generate files into your java project
  • Register the Ontology in the agents

Bye,

Giovanna
