repairing ribbon cables (in a 808)

all,

during the replacement of the step buttons on my 808 i found the the
ribbon cable for the button is torn.  does anybody have any tip or
suggestions on how to repair this.  i'm guessing a replacement part is
long gone.

you can carefully solder wires from the pins to the very edge of the
ribbon (where it plugs in to the socket) i did this on mine, works a
treat
