        I think the real way to rip a DVD to a hard drive is to use DD. Here is
what I was given to rip a CD to my HD:

karl@karl-hardy:~$ dd if=/dev/scd0 of=/home/karl/Desktop/xp.iso bs=2048
conv=notrunc

Here I am getting the cd from /dev/scd0 and sending it to xp.iso on my
hard drive. It came fast and was a perfect copy.

        I checked and it appears if you have a combination CD-DVD player/record
unit as I do that your going to use /dev/scd0 as well for your DVD.

Good Luck and of course you do the above inside a Terminal Window...

Hi,

Ok, so it looks like you have installed a package directly, from outside your normal set of repositories. This is where your troubles are coming from.

I suggest you  look to updating your repos to include any that are missing...

cheers Chris

Check your /etc/apt/sources.list and see if they look like those posted
by Andre Mangan (Andre Mangan  said on 2009-03-21:) here:

If not, you can add the multiverse using the above example.
