simple IR

Dear all
Am I dreaming or is there a simple device which looks like a jelly bean
but can record & replay a single IR code?  Or am I just so old that it's
obsolete?

I realise the Gewa IR3 & Big Jack have similarities, but this was much
cheaper.

Barry

Hi Barry,

There was a system called the Airlink which worked with
the Powerlink devices (2 and 3) I think but I don't know if
It could be used independently of those.

Cheers

Jeff

Would love to know if there is Barry.
Remember also the Domino
(http://www.inclusive.co.uk/catalogue/acatalog/domino.html)

There have been numerous folk asking for such a thing but I'm not
aware of anyone producing it.
One reason that a rep suggested to me was because its too expensive
with too little market - not sure I agree with that myself. I guess
the other is that its "fairly" easy to DIY something. Sticking
infrared into instructables brings up a plethora of projects. This one
I have had on my to-do list for a while:
<http://www.instructables.com/id/Universal-IR-Remote-Switch/>. Here is
something that may start you off
<http://www.instructables.com/id/IR-Detector/> but it's a bit basic -
this may be a better approach:
<http://www.instructables.com/id/IR-Remote-Control-Signal-Capture-and-Visualization/>

What I really one is a Open Source design for a IR sender/receiver -
the Big Jack is ludicrously expensive. Anybody fancy it?!

Other things to look at by the way on this topic are the USB-UIRT
(http://www.usbuirt.com/) - if your controlling something from a
computer with IR its a darn sight cheaper than a GEWA Prog etc and
Tobii Communicator/The Grid support it.

My approach is to use aGewa IR5-SP and a jelly bean / specs switch
velcroed to the top (best to shorten the switch lead to avoid snagging)
The IR5-SP has better battery life than the IRR3 whcih only has three
little camera batteries in it.
Tony

Thanks all

I think it must be an obsolete ablenet device that I’m thinking of ‘cos it looked like the Airlink but was trainable IR.  Looks like to ir5 would do what I want, thanks Tony.
