Hi Raphael,

taking a look at your config.log file, it seems that, really, I need
to provide replacements for these functions (round, ceilf, hypotf) for
your system, because they are from recent C standards not supported in
your system. It should be simple.

I will try to find time for this and contact you once I've done it.

SIP under Solaris

Hi Raphael,

it is totally ok to post that here. The animal library is small and
mostly used by the SIP community.

If that's the case, please post the file config.log to this list.

Support for Solaris is not our priority, since everyone use Linux
these days. However, Solaris being a flavor of Linux allows me to at
least try to help you.

I've thought about posting this to the Animal mailing list, but it seems
dead (no post since 2004).

Hi,

the windows version is unmaintained. We need volunteers!
Only the linux version is being actively maintained. Perhaps you could
install ubuntu linux! http://www.ubuntu.com

You can still use the old windows versions with an old scilab, but we
currently don't support those.

SIP for windows

Hi,

Which is the stable version of SIP for windows.
And a compatible scilab version

I went through the readme of SIP installation 0.4.1, but even after
following the steps manually of running the builder and the loader it
give imread command not found. Imagemagic path also was asked during
the building stage. I had copied Imagemagic to required location but
still things doesn't work .

I think its more of version compatibility issues.
Please can you suggest a know working SIP version with scilab version
and imagemagic

Hi,

there seems to be some problem with configure, since CFLAGS in the
imagemagick detection line seem to point to the right place, but the
final CPPFLAGS doesn't have it.

A quick fix for you is to do :

CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/include/ImageMagick" ./configure

let me know how that works.

This new minor version works for Scilab 5.1.1, has an improved build system for
newer ImageMagick, and has all 64 documentation files updated to the new DocBook

the Scilab Image Processing toolbox version 0.4.0 has been released.
This new major version works for Scilab 5.1, and brings new functions
such as a new fast Euclidean distance map algorithm, phase unwrapping,
Radon transform, HSV color space transformations, and more. Many other
bugfixes and minor improvements were added, and recent versions of
ImageMagick are now supported to read and write over 90 image formats.

Currently only a source code release is available, which readily
installs under Linux. An experimental windows version is available
only for Scilab 4 at this point. If you wish to contribute with a
windows port, you will be greatly praised by the community. SIP has
over 60 downloads/day and about 2000 page views/day! The demand for a
windows port is huge.

We are in the process of migrating help files to the new DocBook
format for Scilab 5. The SIP 0.4.0 release contains DocBook help pages
for most of the core functions, but we still have about 40 more
function documentations to convert.

Newbie - Installation Woes on Linux

Hi all,
I'm a newbie to SciLab & SIP. I need to install the SIP Toolbox in
Linux. How do I do this? Couldn't seem to find any documentation on this.
I've installed SciLab in my XUbuntu Linux distribution, but wasn't sure
how to install SIP. The Readme.txt says there's no need to install it,
but I could not run the SIP toolbox from within SciLab when following
the instructions in the readme document.

Also newbie to Linux.

CVS make install error

Hi
All goes well with SIP cvs install until last leg of make install :-(

I have done all of these:

- Scilab 4.0 (SIP seems to work even for Scilab 2.6).
- AnImaL (An Imaging Library), latest version. You can
download it at http://animal.sourceforge.net
- ImageMagick
- GCC compiler
- groff text formatter (for help pages)
- For the SIP CVS version, you need to have recent autoconf,
automake, and libtool packages installed.

Thanks for your message. I just tried the same command on
my version of SIP(4.0 rc2)/Scilab(3.1.1 Linux) and I seem
to be getting the same thing happening...ie nothing.

I haven't used the crop feature before so I could be doing
the syntax incorrectly or simply missing something.
I will look into this, though.

If someone has already responded to you and solved the problem,
sorry for repeating.

SIP mogrify, crop command

I recently installed SIP 0.4.0 for Windows on a WinXP machine.
I am using it with Scilab 4.0. When I try to use the mogrify
command to crop an image I just get the complete original image
back, e.g.

crop_image = mogrify(in_image,['-crop','20x20']);

where in_image is an 80x80 normalized grayscale image,
crop_image is the same 80x80 image. I have tried with and
without ! and everything else I could think of. I also don't
know how to properly specidfy the x,y offset for cropped image.
The other mogrify commands that I have tried seem to work. For
example resize works (although I haven't figured out how to
specify an offset there either). Is there a problem with my
command syntax?

I didn't know the meaning of the "-no-undefined " modifier of the ld
command in the Makefile.am .

Although the compiler is gcc on the Mac, ld is not the same as on
Linux.

To let undefined symbols at the link time, the option is then
"-undefined warning " which transforms errors in warnings. On 10.3 it
can be used "-undefined dynamic_lookup ".

In any case it is working very well now.
