smime plugin doesn't handle SHA1 fingerprints; verified messages

The smime plugin doesn't handle SHA1 fingerprints when displaying a certificate.  Fingerprints display a blank; only MD5 works.
 
Patch attached.
 
The verified/not verified messages are a bit terse for ordinary users.  I suggest a more explicit description.  Suggested patch attached.
