software estimation tool

At my day job we use the SEER-SEM tool.  I like it, was never trained on it, but it appears flexible.  The company created some templates and you can use one over and over and plug in what you are going to develop.  It's an estimate, right?
 
Can you comfortably recommend a tool that you've actually used?
