Bug report for Octave 3.2.3 configured for i686-pc-mingw32

Description:
-----------

Try:

stairs(1:3)

And you get errors in plot.m in function __stairs__ on line 83:

  if (nargin == 1 || ischar (varargin{2}))

And also some other error, probably as a consequence.

Repeat-By:
---------

As I wrote, try "stairs(1:3)"

Fix:
---

Instead of "nargin==1" replace by "nargin==2" on line 83. The source
of the mistake is probably in the definition of function __stairs__:

function [h, xs, ys] = __stairs__ (doplot, varargin)

When it is called from line 70:

        [h, xxs, yys] = __stairs__ (true, varargin{:});

Then the "nargin" is always greater or equal 2 because of "doplot" and
at least one parameter in "varargin". In case of "stairs(1:3)" the
"nargin" on line 83 is 2, "varargin" is "1:3" and "varargin(2)"
doesn't exist.

I'm not on your mailing list. Please confirm this email.

Bye,
Jakub

I checked in the following change.

Jaroslav, this could probably be applied to the 3.2.x branch.

Thanks,
