in order for you to complete a burst does your opponent have to react???

Bursts are complete only when both players agree no to add anything to it.

Bursts are "resolved" wehn you get to the card that started the burst.

I like to compare busts to Chains from Yugioh, or responding to attacks with many instances in magic (I don't know if you guys get this alot, but my friends are constnatly saying "In response to your monster attacking I activate x" "Well in response to your response I activate y")

i get it.....but i have another question can you automatically activate a mugic if it goes against it....for example....Kaz uses Cannon of Casualty, and then Herculeon uses Refrain of Denial.....i think thats right

After a burst is resolved, It moves in reverse order, now I think refrain of denial disallows your opponent to use mugic, or nullifys it, thusly Kaz'z canon dosn't go off.

Likewise if you were playing a game with the demo deck, someone using a canon of casuality can be countered by a song of resurgence. So first the song of resurgence goes off first healing 20 points, then the canon would come second dealing 20 damage.

that does help....but i was woundering when would you be able to use the counter mugic.....meaning that once kaz used Cannon of Casualty.....automatically use the Refrain of denial right after he uses it even though it is not my turn....that is what i am trying to ask

Mugic can be activated just about anytime, as long as its special ability applies

Well, I guess in all theory a mugic can be played at anytime. Though wether it is useful or not at said time should be considered when playing it (No point in playing song of focus right before the turn ends)

Yeah, it appears timing is big. For instance, Song of Resurgence heals 20 Energy. If you play it on top of a Canon of Casualty during a burst, and your creature hasn't been injured yet, then it's useless. It would resolve in this order 1)Song of Resurgence doesn't do anything because there is no damage to heal, then 2) Canon of Casualty deals 20 damage, then 3) whatever effects are in the burst resolve. However, if you pass on the burst with the Canon of Casualty, take the damage, then start a new burst with your Song of Resurgence, then it would have the desired effect. Such a simple difference in timing can produce very different results.
