Hi all,

The next SuperCollider Symposium is beginning to take shape. While it is still in preliminary planning
stages and nothing is absolutely certain, the following are the likely details.

The SuperCollider symposium will happen in New York City  in May 2009 using spaces and a theatre provided
by the School for Visual Arts on W 21st street.  (SVA is renovating a 300 seat theatre with 7.1 audio and an
advanced projection system.  This will be used for large sessions in the morning and concerts in the evening,
with afternoon use reserved for sound checks and rehearsal.  Afternoon break out sessions will occur in smaller rooms
that can seat between 40 and 80 people in SVA's main building.)

Harvestworks will be a co-sponsor and the symposium will take place within a broader theme of live performance and physical interfaces (both input and output devices).  Most of the people who work with Harvestworks use MAX, so an important sub-theme of their activity over the next year will be offering workshops to introduce MAX users to SuperCollider.  If you have an idea for a great workshop on SC3, contact them and propose it. You can find out more at http://www.harvestworks.org/cms/.

If you are likely to attend, I would like to hear from you in order to get a vague sense of likely overall participation by the developer
community. If you have time, please send separate replies to the following questions to SC3NYC@....

1. Please make the subject heading: DATES
Would any of the following dates make it impossible for you to attend?
5/8/09 - 5/10/09
5/15/09 - 5/17/09
5/22/09 - 5/24/09
5/29/09 - 5/31/09

2. Please make the subject heading: PANELS
Would you like to organize a panel?  If so, on what topic?

3. Please make the subject heading: ORGANIZATION
If you are in the NYC area, are you interested in helping with conference organization?

Great to hear that!
(NY will be relatively close for me!)

What exactly do you mean with Panels?

sincerely,

Hi Marije,

A panel is simply a group of people doing related presentations.
For example, you might coordinate a set of people doing presentations
on SC in Linux.  The basic idea is that then, after all of the
presentations there is time for a little back and forth between
presenters before a more general discussion involving the audience.

   Please do one!

Cheers,

RJK
