There is now a delta to include 2.3b2 extras in 2.3b1 source (except
rhgd, which I can't find)

I just tried it and it looks like what Stefan is looking for. I added
it to my TSoMs config after hacking the max-ver to match the latest FF
2.0.x.

Hmm, this one has passed under my radar - there even isn't any
mentioning in build.conf. I'll have to test it soon. Looks simple
enough.

BTW the version in 2.3beta needs updating as it maxes out at FF ver. 2.0.11.

Correct, mozilla & firefox forums have been full of this since day 1 and
it has been studiously ignored by the devs.

There is a way of getting prism to do this, and you can even turn off
chrome (true full screen), but you need to change the json settings.

I don't think the current prism package has this quite right (yet).

I start to share your frustration with firefox. I have spend several
hours on this today and there is no fix:

1) There is no fullscreen command line option, although a simpe F11
keypress does this.
2) There is no config file option to get fullscreen. There even isn't
an official add-on to do this, so you have to rely on 3. party
add-ons!
3) Mozilla has broken the oversize feature.

The only way to get fullscreen in TS is to install one of the 3 party
add-ons on a running TS, rescue the .mozilla folder structure an
repackage that into packages/firefox/etc. It isn't difficult, but
tiresome and definitely not usable for TSoM.

I'm getting so tired of firefox that is getting worse for each version
since ver. 1.5. About time I resurrect my Opera package...

I'm pretty sure this is not a ThinStation issue. This is your DHCP server
not really reserving the .200 address for the gateway.

This next question is rhetorical because I don't have DHCP running on a
Windows Server... What method have you used to tell the Windows Server to
reserve the .200 IP address? The DHCP server doesn't watch the network to
see which IP addresses are used.

I would either ...
1. Change the IP address of the router to be outside of your DHCP
address range. Since you are using DHCP, this should be relatively easy.

2. Change the range of IP addresses assigned to DHCP.

They are both different sides of the same coin, but would simplify your
setup.

A third option is to assign the .200 address to your gateway from the DHCP
server by mac address, so the DHCP server would know it was assigned. This
has the possible failure of the gateway address assigned to another
workstation if the gateway hasn't been up for a while. How long depends on
your timeout values. If it is set to 1 day, as many are, it would take the
gateway being down for 24 hours for the DHCP server to assign that IP
address to another machine. This is unlikely unless the power or the
gateway were to fail, for example, over the weekend without people noticing.

confirmation to the list.

Often people fix their problems, but we have NO idea if the package is
correct or they did some mod to fix.

Thinstation grabbing ip of Gateway via DHCP !!! Even though the address is protected?

Hi, Having a serious issue here.
Whenever I power on my client it takes the ip address of our gateway even though that is reserved by w2k3 DHCP. The client RDP session then works fine but it takes down our network since it is now the gateway address...
DHCP Range is 10.100.100.150 to .250 with .200 reserved for the gateway(router). (Windows 2k3 server providing DHCP with the reservation(s)

Booting from live version: Thinstation-2.2.1-LiveCD.basic. profile on Floppy.

Can someone please tell me how it could be grabbing that IP address and what I can change to prevent it happening? (while still using DHCP)

VB: Firefox parameters

I goggled alot about it but didnt find much, some pages suggest using "firefox -fullscreen" or "firefox -autohide" from command line, but I cant get it to work. Maybe wrong version or it may need some plug-in...
I tried SESSION_0_FIREFOX_OPTIONS="-width 4000 -height 4000" but it didn't make any difference, it doesn't fill the entire screen, just 3/4 of it.
I also wanted to get rid of menus, address fields etc. Isn't there someone out there that has done this already?
(The version of Firefox is 2.0.0.20 supplied by the Danish TSoM)

I'm not happy! I have used this setup with 2.2 (and maybe 2.2.1) for
years at my former job.

I'm unsure if the problem lies with TS 2.2.2 or Firefox 3.0.

Serial console

Hi,

Running Thinstation-2.2.2 on an ALIX.2d3 board, I need simple Serial console output.

It is booting PXE allright and I can telnet and web into it, no problem.

The serial console shows the loading process only and stops after unpacking the image showing Ready.

I tried both lines in /etc/inittab:

# Serial Console:
# S0::respawn:/bin/getty ttyS0 38400
T0:23:respawn:/sbin/getty -L ttyS0 38400 vt100

Also the ttyS0 was added to /etc/securetty

What am I overlooking here?

I'm not happy! I have used this setup with 2.2 (and maybe 2.2.1) for
years at my former job.

Ah, I guess that you mean FF doesn't take up the entire screen area
(it is full screen application anyway)?
It is just a matter of feeding the correct options:

SESSION_0_TITLE= Firefox
SESSION_0_TYPE=firefox
SESSION_0_FIREFOX_HOMEPAGE=http://www.google.com
SESSION_0_FIREFOX_OPTIONS="width=4000 height=4000"

Note it is OPTIONS in plural. The number 4000 is random, but sufficiently "big".

There isn't any difference on source level between beta1 and beta2 -
it's bug fixing in scripts. You can always try out the SVN version of
2.3. It doesn't come eny newer. Mind you, international keyboards are
broken with xorg 7.3.

trying to debug and perhaps rebuild the whole thing I thought perhaps I
should first try the 2.3 beta. On the Sourceforge download page there
are these files for download:

- thinstation_src-2.3beta1.tar.bz2

Judging from the file names, there is a slight version mismatch here. Is
there a source archive for the 2.3beta2, or which patches/updates
exactly do I need?

I haven't included prism into my TSoM as I regard it a bit as a
specialty. As you mention yourself it hardly makes sense without a
customized iceWM that doesn't make sense in a TSoM environment (then
noone will have workspaces, etc.)

Correct, the original had
udhcpc -i $DEVICE -C -H $1 -s /etc/init.d/network_script
and when I hand applied the patch from the discussion I REPLACED the
-H $1 with -C
instead of adding -C
and as nobody reported it, I thought it was OK (as I don't use the
hostname for anything significant on my network).

I got the other part right....

TS 2.2.2, ICA 11 without WindowManager - audio control Hotkeys?

i start a published desktop as SESSION_0 without having a windowmanager.

Is there any possibility to define hotkeys for aumix to raise volume out of the ICA-session? Myabe something like Ctrl+Alt+[+]?

I want to build a kiosk with a locked down web browser with no menus etc, and I understand that it is Prism I should use. I cant find any Prism connection package at the Danish TSoM that I use though, or is it included in any other package?

I sure can where would you like me to post it? Over the next month or so while we implement these machines I'm going to have to write up all the documentation on how to set these up for my co workers. I would be happy to share the documentation i come up with with you guys if you are interested in it.

We are all windows workers in here so im starting it with how to install unbuntu, and how to download the tools you need to compile it etc...

I just wanted to let you guys know I implemented these changes, and tested it out on our network. It seems to be working perfectly. I'll get a better chance to test it this week when we get our shipment of 40 new boxes. I believe i have the perfect kiosk now, and i just wanted to thank everyone who has helped me along the way.
