time for release

Hi all, especially blep:

Do you suppose we should make a new release?

The current release, 1.12.0 doesn't build with gcc 4.3.
CVS, however, does build.

I'm happy to re-run the autotools and create the .tar.gz file.
Should it be 1.14?
