totem -gstreamer-error

hi,
when i tried to compile "totem -2.20.0 movie player" found the following  error?





checking for GST... no
checking for backend libraries... configure: error: you need the GStreamer or the xine-lib development packages installed
************




       how can i solve this?.give me some suggestions on that.

2.20 is ancient history and I wonder why someone would want to compile
that version.

Install the required gstreamer development packages as said. The exact
names depend on your distribution, but they often end with -dev or
-devel.

You need the GStreamer or the xine-lib development packages installed.
