undocumented details

As usual, a web search for precise information only turns up pages with the same holes, so I'm working it out by experiment.

I am using v0.6.7 on Linux.

According to the description given at
http://www.defacto2.net/apollo-x/trxtutba.htm
fine tune E58 corresponds to zero effect.

On my setup (judged by ear), zero is E54, and the effect is possibly +(x-4)/16 semitone.

Can anyone confirm this?

Also, if there is any more detailed documentation available (other than source code), I would like to know about it,
and it would be quite useful for the website to have a link to it.

if you go to the milkytracker website, go to downloads, and the bottom of the downloads page are a bunch of fasttracker manuals and guides from the mod scene heyday.  the fasttracker manual ch 3 - effects is the most complete discussion of ft2 effects i've ever seen in one place.  i believe ft2 effects are the model for soundtracker.  also i've noticed on this list that when a soundtracker effect deviates too much from ft2, it is promptly corrected.  this is what i did.

p.s. i like the milkytracker program.  it's pretty good.  but why, you may ask, do i use soundtracker ?  well, for one soundtracker interface is cleaner and less slavishly imitates ft2.   also, i am militantly open source.  i don't like binary code i can't learn from or modify, like milkytracker is.

According to my ears, zero is E55 or E56 :-) The trouble is that the
behaviour ov E5x effect isn't documented for FT2 (I mean official
embedded FT2 help coming from its developers). So the implementation of
this effects in FT2 clones depends on how precisely the coders can
determine it value. Maybe I'll arm myself with a frequency meter and
test both FT2 and ST.

I've wrote my own page basing on embedded FT2 help and my own
experience. The address is the following:
http://metamorph0sis.nm.ru/xmeffects.html

I'm planing to update this periodically when I'll get new information.

Yury.

What "deviations" between FT2 and ST effects do you know, except
mentioned at http://metamorph0sis.nm.ru/xmeffects.html and E5x?

Yury.
