So I was in the midst of doing some development, and decided to
restart the browser, when it came back, it said upgrade to firebug
1.4.4, and I said yes, it installed, everything came back, but then I
couldn't expand complex types in the variables watch.
I tried going back to 1.3 and that didn't fix it.
Went back to 1.4.4, still no fix
Re-installed Firefox 3.5, still no help.
Then I read the post about the profiles thing, so I created a new
profile, installed Firebug on it and it worked.
Not wanting to lose all my settings from my other profile, I compared
the profile folders to find differences. This led me to the prefs.js
file in the profile folder. After some investigation, it seemed my
old (not working) profile had a few more settings for Firebug than my
new profile. I removed the extra entries (dealing with showing dom
functions, break on errors, etc) and just like that... it worked.
I never did put my finger on the exact offending property, but I
imagine this may help the developers to find some potential problems,
and make future upgrades smoother.
PS: INCREDIBLE PRODUCT!!!! I make all members on our team use this,
and they aren't even allowed to talk to me about potential bugs of our
web products, unless they have this installed.
