v11.0Beta2/PPC issues

Ok, I finished installing v11.0Beta2 on my Wallstreet Powerbook.  Got
this after trying the Internet Connection Test:

I tried updating the first time, but it didn't fix anything, so I ran
a re-install.  Also, it locked the system up at 75% on the final part
of the install.  Rebooting and starting it seemed to work fine.

On the fresh install:

Internet Connection Test failed
Calling the YaST module - inst_suse_register has failed
More information can be found near the end of the /var/log/YaST2/y2log file
This is worth reporting a bug at http://bugzilla.novell.com
Please, attach also all YaST logs stored in the /var/log/YaST2/ directory.

I copied all the logs, but I was unsure if I should open a bug on this
because it is a beta release.

1.  After the reboot, YaST restarted into text mode.  No idea why.  I
didn't change any settings in BootX.  Actually, with v10.3 and on, I
don't even have to put the video settings on the BootX command line.

2.  Sound is now fixed.

3.  Wireless still does not work.

4.  When I removed network manager, YaST told me it had to install
kinternet.  It then proceeded to install a lot of 64bit packages.  I
ended up aborting it.  Now, I'm fighting it to delete all these
packages.  When I deselect it and then try to taboo it it won't let
me.  I am hoping that after deleting them I can go back in and taboo
them.  This has been an ongoing problem on both i586 and ppc/32bit for
a long time..,......Was finally able to taboo all the 64bit packages.
Will have to see if it makes the system unstable.

5.  Overall, system does seem stable.  Other than the wireless, it's
good to go.  Keep up the good work guys.

Note on the wireless.  bootup shows the following:

Command iwconfig wlan0 nick Powerbook returned
Error for wireless request "set nickname" (8B1C)
SET failed on device wlan0; operation not supported

When I install the system, I set the hostname for it as Powerbook.
This isn't anything different than what I have done on every version
since v10.0

Any suggestions would be appriciated.  Thanx

Further reports on v11.0Beta2:

1.  Graphical YaST doesn't seem to want to work.  I noticed this after
the initial reboot when the textmode install came up to finish the
installation.

2.  When you are prompted to input the root password, the "Keep
password" box is checked.  Personally, I feel that this is a bad idea,
because if I forget to uncheck it, then my son will have Administrator
privileges on this system.

3.  My DLink DFE-690TXD 100Mbps cardbus card works fine.

4.  I built the madwifi driver from source.  It compiled properly, and
loaded properly, but YaST reported that it couldn't use the card
because there was something missing.  However now the wireless is
working just fine.  I have no idea what changed but it does work now.

Thanx guys

Wireless update:

Ok, after rebooting, the Wireless card didn't work again.  YaST
claimed that drivers were missing.  I unloaded the ath5k module and
the ath_hal module and modporbed ath_pci and it didn't work.  I then
ejected the card and unloaded the ath_pci module.  Then I reloaded the
ath_pci module and put the card back in and it worked.  However,
neither NetworkManager nor KInternet will see the card and use it to
connect to a network.  It will only work if I put the Network name in
manually using the Traditional setup settings.  It does work tho after
that AFTER i run "dhcpcd ath0"

I suggest to open a bug for the wireless stuff. You card is hopefully a
mainstream one, all drivers should be in place. If there are any driver
packages missing, they can be easily added to ppc version. Maybe the are
already part of factory?
