version numbering question

The kdebase package currently is listed as 5:55. Is this an internal Debian reference and how could I determine which version of the kdebase it reflects?

the kdebase binary package is built from the meta-kde binary package.

you are probably interested in etiher kdebase-workspace or kdebase-apps
