CSS Validator - Czech translation request

Hello,

I finished work on Czech translation of CSS Validator. I have all the strings in one text file.
Should I send the file here to the list (I'm not sure if it accepts attachements) or directly to
Coralie Mercier or whoever is currently responsible for the CSS validator translations? Please let
me know so I can submitt my work in the right place.

I noticed some errors in the translation:

1) On the second line of the source, the HTML element has a LANG
attribute with the value "en" (English) instead of "fr" (French).

2) There should be a short notice near the top of the document that says

outside the document, it has a "/" too many, and it contains a broken

5) Some sentences are incorrectly translated:

You translated "when it encounters your document" as "ce qui permettra
de lire votre document." The actual meaning is closer to: "quand il
croise votre document."

You translated "A non-CSS browser will display the HTML document like it
always did." by "C'est une erreur de considérer que c'est le navigateur
CSS qui affiche le document HTML." In fact, the English says something
like: "Un navigateur sans CSS affichera le document HTML comme avant."

"As of August 2002, there are complete implementations of either CSS1,
but not yet of CSS2" contains an error in the original: the
word "either" shouldn't be there. The sentence then means: "Depuis août
2002, il y a des implémentations complètes de CSS1, mais pas encore de
CSS2."

"This solution will be phased out as browser support for CSS improves."
means something like this: "Cette solution sera abandonnée
progressivement en même temps que l'implémentation de CSS dans les
navigateurs s'améliore."

I think we should put an end to machine translation as although it is useful in an add hock occasions it is certainly not a good tool for specific technical issues. Here are three examples of reverse translation (I used your phrase in your last email)

machine translation". Would translate to:
Да, я согласен с Дмитрием - это плохое качество перевода на всех, кажется, машинного перевода.

Which in turn would translate to: "Yes, I agree with Dmitri - a poor translation at all, it seems, machine translation."

The difference is crucially (and gramatically) apparent!

Since there is already an existing translation of the document "Chapter 2
CSS" (intention announced 6 May 2009 cf.

announced 12 Nov. 2009 cf.
<http://www.w3.org/mid/184964045.20091112141700@...>) that
predates Alexandr's notification of translation of 24 Nov. 2009 cf.
<http://www.w3.org/mid/e47ad6d40911241306p6a9eb5d3pf528136959c157f4@...>,
and since there isn't agreement on the quality of the most recent
translation although Bert was ready to link to both translations, I
strongly suggest Alexandr to not work on fixing the wording and quality of
his translation.

Alexandr, I hope you can find another document to translate that hasn't
already been translated. You could use the search tool of the Translations
DB (http://www.w3.org/2005/11/Translations/TranslationSearch.html). All
the documents in the DB are useful, but my preference are in the
categories "Tutorials, FAQs". You can select them an see whether they
exist in Russian and Belarussian, or not.

There are a few errors in the mark-up that should be fixed before I make
a link to the document:

- You added a SCRIPT element, but you put it outside the HTML element.

It has an attribute lang=ru instead of lang=be.

You copied the W3C logo (line 200 in your file), but according to our

Russian and Belarusian languages are my relatives. Yes there are mistakes in translation, but I'm working on getting it fixed. I'm studying translation in the process. All of your comments, I took note and correcting deficiencies.

But Alexandr's translation has some errors in the mark-up that need to
be fixed first. They are due, it seems, to an added SCRIPT element. See

It also has some broken images: 10.png, 12.png, 1.png, anatomy-decl.png,

I removed the mistakes that may be corrected. Images displayed correctly. Those errors are caused because of the script at the end of the page, fix is not possible because the code added by hosting without the consent of the owner of the site. I hope it will not be the reason not to use the translation.

Unless there are objections within the next few days, I will proceed
with the translation into Belarusian of the following documents:

1) SAC: The Simple API for CSS
http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/SAC/

and

2) About the translations / hints for translators
http://www.w3.org/Style/translating

In compliance with the W3C Intellectual Property FAQ
(http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Legal/IPR-FAQ-20000620#translate), I
will be required to place a prominent disclaimer in my translation(s)
in which I will disclose, (1) the title of and link to the original

I found a few mistakes:

1) There is no link to the English version. The URL is there, but you
cannot click on it...
