watching areas/places like wikipedia for changes

Hi All,

Is there a way to be notified by email when someone changes something in an area or a region?
In wikipedia, we can be notified when someone changes the pages we "watch".

I have been working around the capital region in India and there are too few active surveyors.
Recently there has been some traffic of hello world surveyors who are probably experimenting and therefore sometimes spoiling some of the map.
Like now two local streets have their road name abbreviation in the ref property.
Can I get notified when changes happen within a rectangle or something?

Thanks,
Vikas

The OSM Mapper product from ITO World ( http://www.itoworld.com ) allows
you to monitor changes in an area. It is free to subscribe to. It
doesn't monitor changes to nodes and can take a day or two to catch up.
Their links to OSM information pages (user profile, map, object history)
work well. You can get the changes to an area reported to your favourite
RSS reader.

Cheers,
Chris

You can just click on the history tab on the OSM page in your area, scroll
down and choose the feed (orange icon).

The drawback of the history tab is that it includes the 'big' edits
which cover the area but didn't change anything directly in that area.
I would prefer to be able to hide the big edits, and have them hidden by
default.

Cheers, Chris
