waterproof or not?

1st post, glad to be here. Had to retire my old genny when we were 350 miles from home this past weekend. We were in Missouri where it was about 9,087,830,221 degrees in the shade when we found ourselves with no A/C because of generator failure (no shore power). So I had no choice but to go find something to make power with since we had pets with us. I finally found what turned out to be a SMOKIN deal on a new EF4500 inverter. This think is absolutely bad azz! What I am wondering is if it is suitable for use in wet weather, or should I plan on building some kind of roof for it. Any response will be appreciated........-Curtis.

Smokin deal or not an EF4500 still is a fair amount of cash, protect your  investment. I have a 3000seb I use to power my pop up when there is no shore power. I bought a genuine US ARMY surplus pup tent to put up over it if it rains, no floor. With both ends open it seems to vent well enough for the generator to cool properly. It also keeps the generator out of sight of people who might want to adopt it, or complain about  running it to late in the campground.
