x200 tablet pc, 9.04, tablet does not work out, even with effort!

hi all --

I was really excited when I saw everyone posting that their x200 tablet
worked out of the box with ubuntu 9.04. Sadly, that's not happening for
me! It's not happening in live mode, and it's not happening in installed
mode.  I've upgraded to 9.10, which has solved *some* problems, but not
everything.  In particular, it still doesn't work at all.  The
"improvement" is that wacdump at least gets some input from the tablet,
but it's all wacky.

If I do:

   wacdump -f tpc /dev/ttyS0

I get a bunch of warnings/errors like:

WARN: Bad high bit, discarding 1 bytes

WARN: Resetting tablet due to bit errors

etc.

I've found a bunch of information where people have these issues after
suspend/resume, but it happens on boot for me.  Plus, the tablet doesn't
respond at all.

Some more info:

  - wacomcpl doesn't see any devices
  - wacdump is ver 0.8.2
  - wacom-tools is 0.8.4.1-0ubuntu
  - kernel is 2.6.31-14.48

However, I just built linuxwacom 0.8.4-3 and when I run:

   src/util/wacdump -f tpc /dev/ttyS0

I get exactly the same thing.

Please please please help -- I'm getting sick of rebooting into windows
just so I can use my tablet!!!!!
