Looking at making a YUI3 Module

I'm looking at turning some of my code that I've created into some YUI3 modules, but I'm not sure how to start it out. The coding part is fine, just not sure how to get it into the YUI object.

problem with YUI autocomplete and IE6

i have 2 input in my form with autocomplete feature with YUI-2 library
the problem is that : the second input is not hidde by the first when the contenair of the first input is expand. i have used "useIFrame=true" property but only the select control are hide, my second input is visible via the container of the first

This is what I have done.

In the move() function - I get the height of the td element and calculate the Y for the container top and set it
move : function() {

These messages are defined as instance attributes of the DataTable.
Change them by either passing them to the constructor or using the set
method.

You explanation simply expands the same question without adding any more
info. Do you:

a) Want to transform the data being presented to the user before the
user sees it? If so:
1) does it apply to several fields? It is related to formatting?
2) is there a particular field that you need updated? Can it be
located by any piece of data within the record?
b) Want to allow the user to click on a cell, edit it and save the change

Id's coming from the HTML table will not be preserved. You have to
completely separate the presentation stuff from the underlying data. In
DataTable you operate on the data and let the DataTable deal with the
presentation. There are hooks to allow you to control some aspects of
that presentation but basically you leave it to the DataTable. You
don't go accessing the HTML elements because what you want to deal with
is the data, that is what is going into the database server or wherever
it is stored.

My scenario:
-I receive data from Ajax call (I don't want to use DataSource for now).
-Based on the data received, I need to find a specific row by one of the columns with unique identifier
-Update a cell in that row
-How can I do that if my row is in Datatable?

p.s. If I assign an id <td id='something'> to my td before Progressive rendering, would I still be able to access it by that id, and Datatable will pick up this dynamic change?

Hi ,

I have a datatable with textbox cell editor. Data in the cell sometimes spans over multiple lines, and when i click on it the textbox cell editor pops up right at the top of the cell,which looks real odd.

I'm trying to figure out a way to make the editor pop up right at the center of the cell. Can anyone suggest how this can be done ?

I tried padding, but that will not work as the size of my cell varies dynamically based on the data.

Please suggest.

In the asyncSubmitter, you get to establish the communication with the
server in whichever way you wish, it just provides a place to hook your
asynchronous communication, it doesn't do it for you or force you to do
it in any specific way. It just puts everything on hold until you've
done. You are quite free to validate your transaction in any way you care.

YUI3 and webworkers

Hi all,

I'm looking into implementing an app with web workers and YUI3, however, am wondering how to give the worker access to the YUI3 library.

My current method works, but is obviously missing a means of importing YUI3. I've tried importScripts() to no avail.

If anyone has a quick example or suggestions on how to do this, that would be greatly appreciated.

I am using Inline Cell Editing with DataTable to update values in a database. I am considering using asyncSubmitter to send the new data to the server in JSON.

When using asyncSubmitter, is there a way to ensure that the origination of the request to the server came from a legitimate client? With the ConnectionManager, I use "user-specific signatures" for this purpose to validate the client. Is something similar possible with asyncSubmitter and JSON?

Ah, false alarm. It appears firebug got in some funky state and so was never
hitting the breakpoint (and ultimately falling through to subsequent submit
code, which I thought should not be executing). Restarting Firefox resolved
the issue.

Push Button click handler never called

I've set up a button with a click handler, but it's never called... I've
tried using the "onclick" option as well as the button.on() method. Any
ideas? This is with 2.8.0r4 loaded via YUI loader.

I put a breakpoint on the first line of the submitR function and it's never

I don't understand the issue, what the problem was before you added the
code or where that code goes (I assume is in the listener for a
clickEvent) or what was supposed to fix in the first place. Perhaps if
you could put in a public place a working version we could see?

1) You can call render at any time. Whatever nodes exist in the tree up
to that point will be rendered. Nodes added later (unless via dynamic
loading) will not be rendered (except a few exceptions such as
grandchildren of collapsed nodes). If you call render again, those
newly added nodes (after the previous render) will be rendered. In
YUI2 there are no generic rules about calling render. Since it was
developed over a long period, later components behave different (and
better) than older ones. TreeView is one of the oldest. Don't take its
behavior as a model for other components.

2) I have the feeling that you meant to have your function named
callback called instead of the one passed to the dynamic loader as an
argument. This will not happen as, within the dynamic loader, the
argument called 'callback' would hide anything but that name elsewhere
in your code.

What you want to do is to listen to the collapseComplete event (better
than collapse, since it is fired once the node is collapsed). Then,
after removing the node's children as you've done you have to set the
dynamicLoadComplete flag to false again:

If left set to true, TreeView will think it has already loaded all there
was to be loaded. A node with no children does not mean it has any
pending loads to do.

Column id renaming for dropdown after deleting one row

Hi
I am new to yui... and I am using yui2.7 and created a datatable A for which there are 2 columns add and delete. my columns are tableA[0].id ,tableA[0].name
When i add a new row, table[1].id and table[1].name is created.
But if i try to delete the row1, and then submit, so values are table[1]... , which throws me error.. as 0 is not there..
So i have added the following code

YUI widget render time and order? & treeview dynamic load

1.i just finish the search on the YDN group for this question,but i do
not get the answer i want.my question is:Almost all YUI(yui2) widgets
have the method render(),when i use treeview widget,i am not sure when
is exactly time to render a tree and when i read the treeview tutorial
on YUI treeview component,the time & order render the component or
widget is very important.i just receive a reply from YUI library forums

Can't move focus to the control because it is invisible...

In IE8 I get the following error:

Can't move focus to the control because it is invisible, not enabled, or of a type that does not accept the focus.

I get this error because of an iframe inside a hidden overlay.

My question is how can i get around this error and why does it work in Firefox?

Now it makes sense. Method render would recreate the complete markup
for the cell editor and place it, once again, in documentBody. Your
solution is good.

doAfterRender is meant to be overriden by BaseCellEditor subclasses but
currently none of them does so you are safe. If any of them eventually
did and if the overriding subclass does not call its superclass
version, which it would hardly care to do, your repositioning would
fail. This is not a problem right now, just something for you to keep
in mind , possibly add a comment to the effect wherever you added the
patch.

I would normally prefer to use a more generic thing like
this.getDataTable() instead of myDataTable, but by the time render is
called (at least the first time), the cell editor has not been attached
to any DataTable and such call would probably return null. Anyway, this
is but a patch.

notified once it is fixed. Also, add your patch to the list of possible
solutions, explaining that you need it so because you are populating the
dynamically. Developers will thank you for that in the future, and so

Hi,
I'm trying to put an inline editable table inside a YAHOO.widget.Dialog.
If the dialog is a modal dialog, the editor is coming up for each cell
but i am not able to edit the contents. For non-modal dialogs it is
working perfectly.

Very slow / incomplete resizing.

I have a bevy of controls and tabs on a system administration panel, and
I'm using the DataTable for the e-mail log.

Well, the entire page resizes a bit slowly, but it's absolutely terrible
when the e-mail log is loaded up, the log won't resize, and nothing else
seems to want to catch on to resize, either... I don't know why the log
table would be re-requesting data, I'm not destroying it, I'm just
setting its dimensions ... but it seems to drag on the whole screen ...
the panel displays in a popup and so it's convenient to stretch the
screen to view the e-mail log ... is there anyway to do this right so
that it's not slow and it actually finishes the resize?

Here's an example of my resize code ... I couldn't think of any other
way to do this, perhaps I've still many things left to learn about
working with your controls...

Datatable inline editor awefully slow in IE7

Hi,

I have developed a data grid with inline celleditors and it is awefully slow in IE7 and it really is a pain using it.

The number of columns is 23 ( 15 non editable and 8 editable)

- A local HTML Table markup is my datasource
- I use RowFormatter
- Formatters for each column
- Process data and save them into a script array on editor save
- Fixed widths for 6 of the editable columns

The data editor works like a charm for around 5 - 10 records. When I try editing 20 + records there is a painful time lag between one editor
save and the next editor pop up. (The UI hangs here for solid 3 seconds)

I did not see this happen in IE6 though.

This has become a very critical issue and looks like I will be in a deep soup if I dont figure this out.

Is there any solution to this ? Please suggest.
